Ginnelly moves north to Hearts for a year
Josh Ginnelly is on the move again and has today signed for Scottish Championship club Heart of Midlothian on a season long loan from Preston North End.
Having made his Football League debut for Shrewsbury at a young age, Josh joined Burnley in the summer of 2015 at the age of 18. Other than in pre-season friendlies, and he scored the winner for us at Bolton in 2016, his first team football was limited to a number of loans at Altrincham, Walsall, Lincoln and Tranmere.
Released in 2018, he signed permanently for Walsall and enjoyed a productive first half of the 2018/19 season, earning himself a regular place in the Walsall team. That led to a move to Preston on New Year’s Day after just half a season with Walsall but he’s been unable to make a breakthrough and has been limited to just a handful of substitute appearances in the Championship for North End with his only productive football coming from January this year when he joined Bristol Rovers on loan.
He now has over 100 Football and National League appearances to his name and will now be plying his trade in the second tier of Scottish football with Hearts who found themselves relegated after the truncated 2019/20 season.
He’s become manager Robbie Neilson’s fifth summer signing as he looks to quickly get Hearts back into the Premiership.Share this page :
