Burnley have offered new professional contracts to four young players with young goalkeeper Aidan Stone having already committed to the Clarets for a further year.

Stone (pictured signing his new deal alongside Head of Football & Governance Matt Williams), who arrived from Brocton in the Midland League in May of last year, has signed a new one year deal with Burnley that also includes an option of a further year. In the second half of the season he’s shared under-23 goalkeeping duties with Conor Mitchell who has also been offered new terms although the club have not released any details in terms of potential contract length.

Two more of the under-23 squad have been offered new contracts. Winger Tunde Bayode has been a regular in the side this season while midfielder Mark Howarth has been out for some time with a back injury. And youth team defender Scott Wilson, who has also played on a number of occasions for the under-23s, has had his scholarship extended into a third year.

Speaking about them, and the players who have also signed contracts in the past few days, academy manager Jon Pepper said: “They have all deserved those professional deals and the chance to develop their careers further at Burnley.

“The same goes for the others whose stays have been extended and we look forward to them kicking on next season with the under-23s and, hopefully, in the future at senior level.”

However, inevitably, players will be leaving and Burnley have confirmed that fifteen members of the under-18 and under-23 squads will be leaving or have left the club.

From the under-23 squad, none of Arlen Birch, Brad Jackson, Connor King, Harry Limb, Khius Metz, Rahis Nabi, Jamie Thomas and Tommy Wood have been offered new terms whilst all of Jordan Barnett, Leighton Egan, Tristan Jumeau, Lewis King, Sam Layton and Kwasinkosi Mpofu from the youth team will be departing along with Craig Ellison who has already left.
