It’s been another good week in front of goal for Lukas Jutkiewicz for Birmingham while Rouwen Hennings has scored his first goal for Fortuna Düsseldorf since joining the Bundesligaton 2 club on loan.

Juke scored his first goal since May 2014 last week and, just like the bus service, two have come at once with a second yesterday to give Birmingham the lead at QPR in a game where they eventually had to settle for a point from a 1-1 draw. It was an easy finish from virtually on the goal line but he’d been unfortunate not to have scored before that.

It was February of 2014 when he last scored in successive games. That was during his loan at Bolton in the two games that followed our 1-0 win there. He gave them an early lead at Millwall in a game that ended, like the one yesterday at QPR, in a 1-1 draw and a week later he scored Bolton’s first in a 2-0 home win against Watford.

In last season’s FA Cup, Hennings equalised for us at Middlesbrough in a tie we won 2-1. It was his second and last goal of the season having sparked the recovery at Cardiff with the first goal as we came from two behind to draw.

He hadn’t scored another first team goal until this week. His side were beaten 2-1 by Eintracht Braunschweig on Friday but three days earlier had won 3-0 at home to Bochum with Hennings scoring the second of the three goals.

There wasn’t much joy for the six players on loan in League One with none of their clubs recording wins. Danny Lafferty was in the Sheffield United side that drew 2-2 at Scunthorpe while Fredrik Ulvestad made his fourth appearance for Charlton in a 1-1 draw at Oxford.

Josh Ginnelly wasn’t involved in Walsall’s draw at Peterborough but for the others it was a pointless day. Tom Anderson’s Chesterfield were beaten 2-1 with a late goal at Bury, Chris Long and Fleetwood had a bad day, going down 4-1 at home against MK and Dan Agyei was used as a substitute for Coventry but, despite going in front, they were beaten 2-1 at Gillingham. They are now bottom of the league without a win and a club that really is in crisis.

Ntumba Massanka got a third substitute appearance for Morecambe in a crazy home game against Crawley that saw three goals scored from the 89th minute onwards. Goalless for over 70 minutes, Crawley won it 3-2. Alex Whitmore was serving the second of a three match ban.

George Green didn’t feature but Luke Hendrie got in a full game to forget for Kilmarnock. They went 1-0 up at Celtic but ended on the wrong end of a 6-1 scoreline. Jamie Thomas was used as a substitute in a 2-0 Championship defeat for Ayr at Falkirk.

Less than thirty years ago, when Burnley were struggling in the old Fourth Division and Colne Dynamoes were on the up, there were fears that they would pass us. We were playing teams such as Scarborough at the time. Yesterday, Colne played Scarborough Athletic away with Tony Aghayere in goal. He was beaten just once, from the penalty spot, but that was enough to give the home side a 1-0 win.
