Having lost his job at Motherwell last summer, former Claret Graham Alexander has returned to the game as head coach at League Two club MK.

Motherwell had been his fourth management job since hanging up his boots having previously held the posts at Fleetwood, Scunthorpe and Salford and his records at each of those three clubs stands up well with more wins than defeats at each of them.

Again, he’s taking in former central defender Chris Lucketti as his number two and he said on his appointment at the recently relegated club: “I am delighted to be here and to be named head coach. I’m grateful to the club for showing faith in me and providing me with this fantastic opportunity.”

He added: “I am a head coach who is adaptable in my approach. It’s the players who go onto the pitch and win games so it’s about analysing what they are best at and creating a framework which allows them to flourish. Ultimately, though, I’ve always set my teams out to score goals, without doubt that’s something we’ll be looking to bring to this job.

Alongside him in League Two next season will be three other ex-Clarets in Derek Adams (Morecambe), Graham Coughlin (Newport) and Neil Wood (Salford) while in League One there are Joey Barton (Bristol Rovers) and Wade Elliott (Cheltenham), not forgetting Michael Duff who will be hoping to take Barnsley into the Championship this coming Monday.
