Wiktor Gromek was one of the names missing when Burnley released their retained list in May, leaving some confusion.

He hadn’t been released but as others missing from the list, players such as Jez Davies, Harry Moss and Kian Le Fondre have subsequently signed new deals, there has been nothing said about Polish under-18 international Gromek who came to Burnley from Leicester two years ago.

He impressed last season in the under-18s, scoring seven times including late goals to give us 1-0 wins at Reading and at home against Sheffield Wednesday. His form won him a place in the under-21 squad and scored for them at Watford in the final game of the season.

He is still listed as a Burnley player by the club, but he has actually signed a long term deal for Italian club Lecce on 3rd July, the day before his eighteenth birthday, for what has been revealed by his agent as an undisclosed fee.

Although he will initially play for their B team, he has joined a club who ended last season in 16th place in Serie A.

We wish him the very best at his new club.
