Having been named as a substitute in last week’s 3-0 home win against Bournemouth, Jόhann Berg Guðmundsson is almost certainly out of Saturday’s clash against Newcastle United at St. James’ Park.

Manager Sean Dyche has confirmed that Guðmundsson’s problem is just little niggles on the way back and is not connected to the hamstring injury that has kept him out, in two spells, for so long.

However, there is good news up front with Chris Wood having trained all week and fit to be included while Ashley Barnes is continuing to make progress having had surgery.

Matt Lowton is the other player currently out of the reckoning and Dyche has said he’s very unlikely to be involved at Newcastle.
