Having seen Joel Mumbongo move out on loan this afternoon, Burnley have now added to their under-23 squad with the capture of 19-year-old midfielder Mark Helm from Manchester United.

Helm, a midfielder, has spent twelve years at Old Trafford before making this move, He’s signed a two year deal with us with the option of a third year and will go into Steve Stone’s squad for the new season.

Having followed the same route to Burnley as Dwight McNeil, Helm said today: “He’s a role model if you like. He shows that the pathway there is possible and hopefully I can do the same as him.”

He will be stepping into a league in which he’s already gained a lot of experience. He played 24 appearances for United last season in the top division of Premier League 2.

Helm added: “It was a great experience to be at United and I’m looking forward to a new challenge here. Burnley is a Premier League club and hopefully I can make a mark here in the seasons to come. It’s a chance to show what you’re made of and I’m really looking forward to it.

“I’ll be starting with the 23s and hopefully I can show everyone what I’m capable of.”
