Ian Holloway replaced Michael Jolley as Grimsby manager on New Year’s Eve last year and one of the first things he did was to take two young Burnley players on loan, firstly left back Anthony Glennon and then midfielder Josh Benson.

Both players impressed and by the time the League Two season came to an end in early March they were both established first team regulars. Glennon had made twelve appearances with Benson not far behind with eleven. They eventually returned to Turf Moor and once we moved into July they both took up places on the bench for our final six Premier League games of the 2019/20 season.

Now, as the 2020/21 season approaches, Holloway would like to see them both back at Blundell Park. Speaking on his club’s website, he said: “I’ve made a call to Burnley and those two lads ended up on their bench, and because we used them in level two, they might want to put them into level one or the Championship.

“I don’t know if I can get them back, but I have asked the question. What I am trying to do is make sure I bring in the right blend, to make a beautiful cake mix that has got every different ingredient in it, so it isn’t boring.
