The under-21s are back in league action this evening with an away game against Hull City with us trying to avenge our biggest defeat of the season which came against them at the end of October.

They beat us 6-0 that afternoon at Leyland with their goals coming from six different players and that result, in effect, is what separates the two teams now in the table with Hull, in third place, one position ahead of us and with three points more. They’ve also played one game more.

We go in to today’s game with just one win in our five league games in 2023, that against Sheffield Wednesday in the first of those games. In the same period, Hull have won twice in six games but were beaten last time out, losing 3-1 at Crewe while we were losing 3-0 against a very experienced Wigan team.

We have been unbeaten at Hull in the Professional Development League. We drew there 0-0 in our first season at this level in 2017/18 and won 3-0 in the following season when Dan Agyei scored twice with Rob Harker also finding the net. In 2019/20 we won 1-0 courtesy of a Christian N’Guessan goal.

This evening’s game is being played at Grange Lane, home of North Ferriby and kicks off at 7 p.m.
