Erik Ten Hag will be making his first visit to Burnley tomorrow as Manchester United manager, having taken on the role ahead of the 2022/23 season.

He spent most of his time in the press conference batting off questions about their current form which has seen them lose their last three games against Arsenal, Brighton and Bayern Munich, and the potential issues in the dressing room.

But when asked about their trip to Burnley, he said: “As always, it’s about how we play against Burnley. There is never any easy games and definitely not against Burnley. We know how intense they play football, I know their approach. I must say, I like the approach from them, the adventure and the high intensity and also the dynamic in their game. So, we have to pay our best.”

It’s another difficult game for Vincent Kompany. He said in his press conference: “We have played some really good teams so far at home, had a threat and competed in spells, but we got punished when we weren’t at our best. We’ve had really solid spells across forty-five minute periods. It’s now about continuing that and can we step it up now and get a result against a really good side.

“I feel there is something really exciting building ahead of us and the momentum is building. Hopefully we can carry it from Monday into the weekend. I really believe in our attacking threat in our team and the mentality within the team is there. We were solid on Monday and the challenge is now United, and I want to see what progress has been made.”

With a League Cup win and a Premier League draw at Nottingham Forest, he added: “We have given our fans most joy away from home so far, but one of these home games soon will be ours and if it’s Saturday then we will be happy and if it’s not then it’s not.”

There is been a lot of talk about United’s recent form but Kompany said: “I will assess them in a way that I need to for my team and give them the best chance of getting a result as possible. The pressure can mount on any team if they lose a single game, but it’s not for me to talk about other teams. If they are on their day, they can be in the same bracket as City and Spurs and we’re well aware of that. They have strengths and weaknesses but we have to be on our game.”
