International coach to watch Barnes at West Ham
Burnley travel to West Ham this Saturday and for one man all eyes will be on striker Ashley Barnes who has scored in each of our last two games.
The man in question is Franco Foda, head coach of the Austrian national side, and he’s scouting Barnes who qualifies due to an Austrian grandmother and has already played for the country at under-20 level some ten years ago.
The Somerset born Barnes made just the one appearance having been spotted playing for Plymouth in a pre-season tour to the country and that appearance came against Switzerland in August 2008.
Assistant coaches Imre Szabics and Thomas Kristl have reportedly watched him already this season but now it is Froda who will be there to watch with a view to including Barnes in his squad. Austria are out of the World Cup but they are looking for players ahead of the Nations Cup and the Euro qualifiers.Share this page :
