It’s an exciting game for us
It’s cup night at Salford with the two managers Neil Wood and Vincent Kompany coming up against each other for the first time.
Wood, who played eleven games for Burnley in 2004 during a loan from Manchester United, has been in charge at Salford since the summer of 2022 and he’s pleased to get this cup game away from the pressures of their current position in League Two.
He has injury concerns and added: “It’s a difficult situation for me and the team having so many guys out at the moment but I’m confident we’ll get through it, we’ve been working hard, we’re not going to shy away from it. We’re going to tackle it head on and try to make improvements to get things better, that’s myself, the staff, the players as well.”
On a difficult run at the moment, he said: “We’re determined to get ourselves out of this blip and we’re confident we will, and I think once we get the lads back that have been injured, we’ll be a lot better for it.”
“I’m looking forward to the game. It’s a good moment for us to go play this match. I think everyone has to remember that a lot of the new guys are still learning what we are trying to do. We saw this last season as well, as the team picked up results as time went on and for us this year it’s the same story.
“The team are fighting every day for the spots and making sure they are getting the performances in, which they are.”
