JBG’s night as Clarets beat Sheffield United
With the score 0-0 at half time, manager Vincent Kompany made two substitutions ahead of the second half, one of them being Jóhann Berg Guðmundsson.
He had a superb second half that included scoring both goals in the 2-0 win, the first time he’s notched a brace for the Clarets in his seven years at the club. And this second half performance from him has won him both the man of the match and the player ratings.
He polled 51% of the vote to win the man of the match, some way ahead of Nathan Tella who was second with a 19% share. Central defender Jordan Beyer was third with 12% and just behind him, 10% of the vote won fourth place for Josh Cullen.
Guðmundsson was right at the top of the player ratings too with 8.32 out of ten and again it was Tella in second place with 8.08. Cullen was third in the ratings, scoring 7.89 with Connor Roberts claiming fourth place with a rating of 7.71 out of ten.
That result brings ten points towards the Up the Clarets Player of the Year for Guðmundsson and six points for Tella. Cullen wins three points and there are two points for Beyer and one point for Roberts.
Guðmundsson has become the ninth player to reach a half century of points but Cullen has now moved on to 121 points at the top, nine ahead of second place Beyer with Cork remaining third and Tella, in fourth place, is now just one point away from reaching three figures.
Six votes to go until the end of the season to determine our 2022/23 winner. The first of them will be underway tomorrow after the game at Reading.
