Kavanagh back in the Premier League at Leicester
Burnley’s game at Leicester tomorrow will be refereed by Chris Kavanagh in what will be his first Premier League game since May.
He refereed our home game against Liverpool on 19th May before taking charge of the Fulham v Newcastle game four days later with Fulham’s Kenny Tete the only yellow card in those two games.
It’s not been so much a stop/start season for him in 2021/22 but one that’s never really started. Although he’s been on VAR duty on occasions, he’s only previously refereed one Championship game, and that last Saturday.
He did referee a Champions League qualifier between Slovia Bratislava and Young Boys in July, but his only domestic game was Nottingham Forest’s 2-0 win at Huddersfield in which Huddersfield had both Danny Ward and Ollie Turton yellow carded alongside Forest’s James Garner.
Tomorrow will be his thirteenth Burnley game with all but the first of them, our 3-1 win at Brentford in January 2016, in the Premier League. It will be the first time he will have refereed us against Leicester.
Graham Scott is on fourth official duties; his most recent Burnley game as referee was the 4-0 home loss against Leeds last season. Jon Moss refereed us four times last season, the last of which was the 3-1 defeat at Old Trafford against Manchester United. He will be on VAR duty.
