Our Premier League game against Liverpool will be refereed by Manchester referee Chris Kavanagh who will be taking charge of just his eighth Burnley game.

The first of those games was our 3-1 win at Brentford in January 2016, on our way to the title, while the rest of them have been in the Premier League, and prior to the Everton game at the end of last season, the last time he refereed us, we hadn’t been beaten.

He didn’t have a good game at all in that defeat at Everton, neither did he when we drew 0-0 at Brighton two seasons ago when he was conned more than once by Glenn Murray, but, other than that, he’s had some decent games and was on a score of 76.41 out of 100 prior to the Everton game.

This season he’s refereed two Premier League games, Spurs v Aston Villa on the opening day and Watford v West Ham last week. In those two games there have been just three yellow cards with two of them going to home team players and one to away team players.

He was our VAR referee two weeks ago at Arsenal but our man at Stockley Park tomorrow is Michael Oliver while Anthony Taylor will be on fourth official duties.
