1617 burnley robbie leitch 01 800Robbie Leitch, recently released by Burnley, has confirmed that he has returned to Scotland and signed a contract with St. Mirren.

He was with the Clarets for just over a year having signed in June 2016 from Motherwell where he’d just been part of their Scottish Youth Cup winning team, and following the same route as his dad Scott who also started his career at Motherwell before moving to England, in his case with Swindon.

Leitch signed a two year contract with the option of a further year and he said at the time: “I’m delighted to sign here because it’s a club that is really going places and the fact they’re back in the Premier League is great.

“I think Burnley are that big of a club and I can’t wait to get started now. Hopefully I can play regularly for the U21s this season, and keep progressing to try and challenge for a spot in the first team as quick as I can.”

It didn’t quite work out like that and the young wide player struggled for game time with the development squad which led to him being released from his contract on 31st August this year. His search for a new club now has now been successful with this move to St. Mirren in the Scottish Championship.
