Linington to referee Burnley for second time this season
Our last three games have all been refereed by officials new to us but tonight at West Brom the referee has already refereed us this season.
James Linington was the referee at Huddersfield on that opening night five weeks ago. That was his sixth Burnley game stretching back to January 2009 when he first refereed us at Watford.
Since that game at the John Smith’s Stadium, he’s refereed another five games, four of them in the Championship and one in the League Cup. In those six games in total, including our game, he’s shown twenty-one yellow cards and one red card. Of those yellow cards, nine have gone to home team players and twelve to away team players. The one player he’s sent off was Sunderland’s Dan Neill in their 2-1 defeat at Sheffield United.
His most recent game was Luton’s 2-1 win at Cardiff on Tuesday this week. He yellow carded Luke Freeman, Elijah Adebayo and Gabriel Osho, all Luton.
His fourth official is Bobby Madley who has also refereed us this season. He was in charge of our 1-1 home draw against Hull.
