1819 burnley jimmy dunne 01 500x500Jimmy Dunne will not be returning to Hearts for the remainder of the season despite the Scottish Premiership club being keen to retain his services.

He’s been out of action since November and been back at Burnley for treatment, but the central defender, who made 14 appearances during his stay in Scotland, will remain here while a decision is made on whether he should stay with us or go out on another loan.

He’s had great success on loan during the last season and a half, firstly with Barrow, then Accrington and more recently Hearts. During his stay with Accrington they clinched promotion to League One while Hearts made a terrific start to this season which saw them reach the semi-finals of the League Cup.

There was no doubt that Hearts wanted to keep him and manager Craig Levein reported that he had an agreement in principle with Sean Dyche. Today, they said: “The club would like to thank Jimmy for all his efforts in a maroon shirt and wishes him well in the next chapter of his career.”

Dunne sent a message to Hearts via Twitter. He said: “I can’t thank the club enough, I felt at home here! The passion and support shown from the fans at this club is unbelievable! Keep going for the rest of the season Jambos.”
