Stalybridge Celtic got their league season underway last Saturday with a 0-0 draw against Mickleover Sports. Their team included our 18-year-old defender Scott Wilson (pictured) who has been involved with our under-23s since moving out of the youth team.

Scott is a left sided defender and Simon (manager Simon Haworth) described him as a big, strong athletic defender. Scott also played against us in the first pre-season fixture of the season.”

He went straight into their team and helped them keep a clean sheet on the opening day of the season.

Meanwhile, former dev squad full back Luke Hendrie is on the move again. He spent the first half of last season on loan at Bradford City before signing permanently for Shrewsbury in January of this year. He played ten league games for them last season but was not involved in their end of season play-off games against Charlton and Rotherham.

He hasn’t been in the squad so far this season and on Saturday joined Grimsby on loan until January, joining up with fellow Burnley defender Alex Whitmore and coach Michael Jolley. His signing was too late for him to be involved against Lincoln but he could feature tonight against MK.
