long hendrickWe have another international break coming up after Saturday’s home game against Everton and two of our players, defender Kevin Long and midfielder Jeff Hendrick, have been called up by the Republic of Ireland.

Mick McCarthy has named a squad of 24 players for the Euro qualifiers against Georgia and Switzerland. Hendrick passed fifty caps during the last break and is expected to be in the team while Long’s chances have increased due to the absences of Shane Duffy and Richard Keogh, both of whom are out injured. Although fit again, there is no place as yet for Robbie Brady but that appears to be down to nothing else other than a lack of game time.

Ireland play Georgia on 12th October at the Boris Paichadze Erovnuli Stadioni in Tbilisi with the Switzerland game to follow three days later at the Stade de Genève in Geneva.
