It’s just over seven weeks since we reported that Michael Kightly was keen to join up with his former Wolves boss Mick McCarthy at Ipswich. Today’s reports suggest that the Ipswich boss is now looking to add not one, but two, Burnley players to his squad before the window closes.

It’s still the case, although Ipswich’s current finances make such a move difficult although they could opt to try and get a loan deal for the player who originally joined us on loan just before the summer window closed three years ago.

Ipswich have today sold Daryl Murphy to Newcastle and that’s left McCarthy looking for another striker. One player he is keen on is Lukas Jutkiewicz who made his first start last Wednesday at Accrington since suffering a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament injury at Bristol City last August.

Like Kightly, Juke has one year remaining on his contract and, with Ashley Barnes getting closer to fitness and Patrick Bamford expected from Chelsea, he too might struggle to get too much first team football this season.

I do believe that there will be outgoings, provided there are incomings in the next few days. Some deals have been held back simply because we can’t complete them until we get new players in. It might just be that Kightly and Jutkiewicz could be two of those outgoings.
