1819 burnley dwight mcneil 00 500x500England have named their under-20 squad for two forthcoming friendly internationals against Italy and Czech Republic and Burnley’s Dwight McNeil, although not in the squad of 18, has been named as a training player.

It’s been something of a big start to the season for Dwight who made his first team debut as a late substitute against Bournemouth at the end of last season. Already he’s started three games in three different competitions, against Olympiacos in the Europa League Play-Off, Manchester United in the Premier League and Burton in the League Cup.

He’s very much part of the first team squad now and he’s taken a first step towards international recognition. Paul Simpson has named his squad of 18 but also included four training players with McNeil among them alongside Ben Wilmot (Watford), Flynn Downes and Andre Dozzell (both Ipswich).

The first of the two games is against Italy and will be played at AFC Fylde next Thursday, 11th October before they travel to Budejovice for the Czech Republic game on the following Monday.
