Re: Live Aid - 40 years this month

The Urban Myths tv series did a great episode on backstage at Live Aid. Elton going mad at Noel Edmond’s landing his chopper in his back garden. Freddie stroking Bonos hair, and Quo not realising that they’d already been on stage.

Re: Your sporting dream?

My sporting dream is complete. After several relegations and the depths we sunk to, all I ever wanted was a return to the top division. I chucked many a coin in a wishing well or fountain in the 70’s, only thinking of one thing. Now I’ve seen us in the Premier League, in Europe, win play offs, and r...

Mid to late 70’s. My mother broke down in her Triumph Spitfire with the windy wipers not working in a storm. Padiham Road. A lovely gentleman stopped and assisted her recovery. Cheers Big Jim. Always a favourite after that. A real gentleman that we used to see regularly at The Turf. I wonder if he’s...

I always focussed on his pre match routine, and if he was a sub, his half time warm up. This chap never seemed to tire of whacking it from outside the box past our keeper. He could strike a ball viciously & accurately. And hardly ever missed. He scored some crackers at times.

Really saddened to hear this. A through and through Claret all be it with a pretty short career with us.
