Re: Fully Electric Cars
400+ miles - quoted range of 372 so I know I’ll need to charge somewhere, but preferably somewhere cheaper than services. I was considering a top up on the way up and then drain coming home Quite a trek! I’ve had an EV for nearly 3 years and have only had to charge probably a handful of times on th...

20 months ago I posted this and thought I'd update my current position and understanding on the whole EV discussion. My diesel Honda Civic has now done 165k+ miles and is still getting 60+ mpg however I have begun to have some worrying mechanical issues present recently that have made me reconsider...

2-0. Another good delivery from James.
It’s all so static though. No movement off the ball, very easy to defend against.

Re: JJ isn't having it
I sort of agree DA, but here's the bias that I think we might have been missing (bias might = conspiracy theory in this case), is that that offside was VERY close, yet the Lino flagged immediately. Now, I thought they were instructed to let play go on if it was close then VAR could determine the ac...

Re: TICKET PRINTING £5
I would take a photograph of the ticket on my PC screen with a disposable camera and hope that Max Spielmann can develop the film in time. If you have a Polaroid camera then I guess it could be even simpler, but that kind of fancy technology isn’t for me.

Re: JJ isn't having it
The technology has been proven to be flawed! Don’t you understand that? Yes, I understand there is a significant margin of error in the technology. What I don't want is for good on-field decisions to be overturned by VAR. Foster was given offside by the AR, the VAR used the technology available to ...

Re: JJ isn't having it
There is no flaw, it’s simple. Should it go to VAR, that is how I would approach it. The system as it is is massively flawed because of the amount of error in the timeframes based on the frame rates. It’s been discussed on here previously and the error for 100 frames/second can be as much as 10cm d...

Re: JJ isn't having it
My approach would be simple. Using whichever freeze frame (not cartoon mockup) the VAR officials deem as when the ball was played, without using any lines if they cannot confirm visually that the player is definitely offside within 10 seconds, then it’s onside and be done with it. I always had the ...

Re: JJ isn't having it
The other confusing scenarios on this contradict. I’m sure the rules say, if Foster hadn’t scored, the linesman should keep his flag down. And we play on! Therefore not offside? Is that correct? Also, if the linesman had kept his flag down. I’m I correct in saying VAR would still have checked the “...

The red line is where they have drawn the line The blue line is his armpit They aren't even close You’re misunderstanding the law (I don’t blame you due to the unnecessary ambiguity of the ‘t-shirt line’). Re: JJ isn't having it
Right, we’ve determined the defenders shirt is ahead of the line, so how is it offside when Lyles shirt, hand and arm is ahead of the line? It's offside because the front of Foster's shoulder is ahead of any point of the defender's body which is considered when offside decisions are determined. I c...

Why was VAR and this extra tech introduced? What's the margin of error on the cameras etc? I'll tell you why it was (supposedly) not introduced - to rule out perfectly fine goals such as this. Attempting to quantify dynamic sports like this, which isn't played across a gain line of any sort, is rea...

Re: JJ isn't having it
I don't understand that logic at all If the line had been drawn 30 yards in front of Foster then it also wouldn't show any part of the defender in an "offside position". This wouldn't mean Foster is offside. It would, like everyone is saying, just show that the line has been drawn in the wrong plac...

But it isn't the same point of the body any more. The reason for this, is that no matter whether intentional or not, if the ball strikes an attackers arm directly before he scores, then the goal will be disallowed. Therefore, the attacker can not be offside for the greyed out part of his arm - henc...

He can’t have been, it was “ incorrect “ the greying out wasn’t done correctly showing both players ahead of the line. New offside rule. To be offside the attacker must have clear space between himself and the last defender. If any part of his body is level with any part of the defender then he is onside. Much easier to verify. Gives attacker a slight advantage. Makes teams think twice about playing the offside tra...

There can't be many jobs where you get a paid day off in return for making a big error. Leaving aside how shite VAR is, I can’t see a problem with the semi-automated CGI of Foster.
