I suppose the fee has been undermined by the so called ‘ gentleman’s agreement’ made last season with Trafford when he wanted to go to Newcastle then but we made him / persuaded him to stay one more season.

The photo above shows both players in exactly the same position equidistant from the ball and classic 50/50, when Barnes arrives it’s even his body that blocks the ball not his foot. Both players were as brave as each other and certainly Barnes wasn’t going to back out. A wonderful moment to treasure.
