Different player but this seems relevant, given it's a young centre half moving from Strasbourg to Chelsea:

Re: Ben Mee
I know he's had an injury, and I don't know if there's any truth in this, but there are a lot of people very quick to write off Ben Mee it seems. Whether he comes back or not, he's a legend and it's not that long since he was a first choice Premier League centre back. I suspect he's not past it at a...

There's a lot of straw man building going on here and with some of the more outlandish takes on this argument. Very few people see this in such black & white terms, in my experience. It's an interesting one this, isn't it, bringing together lots of different issues including that perennial question of means justifying the ends. We'd definitely benefit from a better #9 (but then which team wouldn't) but the more significant issue is the way we're playing. It stems from the manager. I get very frustrated with keeper, defenders, midfielders and forwards going backwards and sideways but recognise, out of the heat of the moment...

I love Ashley, but we should be in the market for a dynamic #9 who can score a dozen goals in the second half of the season.
Of course, we still could be, but I suspect that's not what the owners are looking to do.

I promise it wasn’t always this negative in the ground. I think we were spoilt under Kompany in his first season and now anything less than that (I.e 99.9% of our history) is now not good enough and doesn’t deserve backing from the stands unfortunately. I think it's that the football is dire. Burnl...

Excessive ticket pricing is one of the biggest issues in football.
