Alargeclaret has summed up pretty much what I would have said in his reply to tim noone. The point is that physical hospital space isn't the issue at the minute. It's equipment and the trained staff capable of managing that equipment. Both of those are diluted by moving patients to a separate site.

NHS drugs are bought and negotiated on a national basis. Is it still NICE? That's not strictly true. Hospitals (foundation trusts) are essentially separate businesses so procure their own drugs and equipment. I suffer from Sphincter of oddi dysfunction so opiates can cause me to have an acute pancreatitis attack It's often morphine/ codeine that get implicated with this. You will definitely need some opiates afterwards. Fentanyl can be given via a PCA (self controlled button). Or there are other opiates...
