Re the stoppage time penalty: no doubt that Anthony fouls Amad, however the latter is nowhere near the ball. Even Usain Bolt wouldn't have got there, so it's a misjudgement on Anthony's part, but maybe his mind flashed back to the Spurs match when he was flattened in the box but the Spurs challenge ...

Amorim was rambling and largely incoherent in his post match interview. However he did say that something needed to change and you can not change 22 players coupled with his remarks about what the players want, it seems they want him out and he wants to go. We need him to stay in post until Saturday...

Worth pointing out that they achieved over 30000 average gates for their four seasons in Tier 3 and over 39000 for their last three seasons in the Championship. Very committed and loyal supporters albeit with a very large catchment area.

I am beginning to quite like Valerian as 1)he is refreshingly honest and 2) he appears to be not very good at football management. I was fortunate enough to be on the Turf for his hat trick vs Birmingham towards the end of the 62/63 & also for his header vs Liverpool as mentioned in the article. Three years ago I bought a Giant Roam for about £650 including some very neat disc brakes. It's quite slow as the tyres are quite wide but it's ideal for a lot of the off road cycleways on the old Waggonways of which there are many in the north east. I haven't had a puncture yet, I used to get loads...

Sunderland fans are a very anxious lot. Very quick to get on to their players when they screw up which has been a lot tonight. Very edgy atmosphere.

In addition to Morgan Whittaker Boro also signed Kelechi Iheanacho on loan from Sevilla after he signed on a fee for them last summer from Leicester City.
He scored one goal and looked totally out of condition almost busting out of his shorts. No wonder questions are being asked about Carrick.
