Re: Dave Burnley

I had no idea that "Nigel From Dover" was called Nigel Blackburn. I had a spare comp some years ago for the Clarets game at Peterborough and I gave it to him. He was a regular at away games in those days. I also used to see Dave Burnley at away games - and I read his first book. If I see him again, ...

Re: Why do you support Burnley?

I have never lived within 100 miles of Burnley but I still get the same thrill when Turf Moor comes into sight every other week. Why did I choose Burnley? You will have to read chapter 1 of my book, "Posh Claret" - available from Peter Shirtcliffe's merchandise stall. Or email me on mike.stokes@expo...

Holy sh!t, my first game also.

I just remember Radford wheeling away after he scored.
It was winger Jimmy Robertson who scored for Arsenal that day

Re: Travelodge in Burnley

I also made my first visit to Turf Moor on my 16th birthday. We lived in North Wales at the time and my dad had only learned to drive the year before. It was November 1968 and Arsenal beat us 1-0. We were given a tour of the ground before the game, which included a magical walk down the tunnel and o...

Ramblings Of A Distant Fan

I recently published "Posh Claret", which is a story of my life supporting Burnley for over 60 years from afar. It is available through Amazon (currently £12.99) - here is the link https://lnkd.in/epYKFrSU However, if anyone wants to email me on mike.stokes@exportential.co.uk, I can bring signed cop...

Re: 24/25 Season Tickets

Still nothing received here. A 340 mile round trip to the office is not feasible for me - might have to leave ridiculously early on Saturday instead.

Re: Wordle ....

As well as the NY Times version of Wordle, I also play Wordling! (4, 5, 6 and 7 letter versions). And, for something a bit different, there is Worldle which invites you to guess country names from their shapes. What an exciting life I lead!

Re: Burnley v Aston Villa August 1972

I saw both Villa games in 1972-73. I sat in the CFS and remember Villa fans being in there as well - and there was no trouble. The away game (3-0) was just about our best away performance of the season. I was a student based just outside Birmingham and I had been hearing for weeks all about what Vil...

Re: Red Arrows

I live in the south of Lincolnshire and over the years I have often seen "The Reds", as they are known locally, practising overhead. They are very distracting whilst you are driving - so it is best to park up until they have finished. Amazing team of professionals.
