Re: Summer transfer window
The issue with Ferguson is that there have been injuries and when he went on loan to West Ham it didn't work out. This is more interesting given that Potter was someone he had worked with back when Potter was the Brighton manager. The fact that he didn't manage to do much under Potter is the wory fo...

Re: Egan-Riley
I wish CJ all the best but a genuine concern is that he makes the mistake of moving too early. He played very well in the Championship, which is miles away from the expectations he'll have at a new club in the Prem. The danger is that a few underwhelming performances and he's benched. Cue loan move ...

Re: What's happened to you need 40 points to survive ??
Wasn't 40 points an outlier - when West Ham got relegated with 40 points? In recent years 35/36 has been enough - the issue is more in recent seasons that the gap between 17th and 18th has been wider than a few points indicating that the relegated teams are not even close to being able to compete. T...

Re: What approach for next season ?
It will be incredibly tough and we will have pundits with diminishing understanding of pretty much anything criticising us for not being able to field Messi, Iniesta etc. In recent years there have been PL teams circling the drain and which we could hope to get into the relegation scrap. I can't see...

We have enough young players who aren't that experienced (or have any experience of the Premier League). We need a few 28 year olds who have played a few seasons at least in the PL and can help the team on and off the pitch. Brighton's success with young talent has been slowly adding them to the tea...

The best chance for the next three promoted sides is a few clubs already up there hitting self destruct. There's an awful lot of so-called 'well run' clubs losing absolute fortunes in the Prem. Sooner or later, one or two owners will pull the plug. This. Getting out of the bottom 3 is now like gett...

However the microscope which they come under coupled with some pretty fine cheating skills by the players means the human error aspect is ludicrously amplified . I've no issue with people being against VAR but then it has to be accepted that it is no longer whether a foul is committed, rather it is whether the ref has seen it. Added to this the pundits etc can't expect the ref to see what they can from their position of 5 different camera angles and at slo mo.

Squaring to another player in that situation might have been a better decision given the angles but the issue is that it does seem a confidence thing. He's too scared to miss. I didn't play at any substantial level but I can recognise the fear which is about him. When you are off form and secretly d...

It's not so much that he was at fault, it was just that it needed an exceptional goalkeeper to have a chance to stop them. We have an exceptional goalkeeper but he wasn't playing. The problem with the first goal was that he jumped in the air just as Brady hit it, which meant that he had to land bef...

That midfield 3 shows our limitations as we had 3 of the attacking midfielder role playing together. No wonder they went through us. I've been holding out for Foster to come good as I genuinely want him to do well. Pires was found out today, the free kick he gave away was due to poor positioning, something which you'll be rinsed for if we go up. I think criticising Sonne is harsh, he's still new to the league and the system. He needs time to get used to it all and this game was always going to be tricky.

Parker isn't a Burnley fan - he might gain an affinity to the club over time but he's made a decision based on priorities. This board would be in low orbit if we'd played several first teamers and we'd suffered an injury. Even if we had there was no guarantee we'd have won. Instead he gave players v...

It's not looking at the top 6, the gap between the relegated teams and the mid table is huge in terms of squad depth and ability. Barnes is more of a nuisance than Flemming and possibly more of a goal threat. I don't really see any reason to start Flemming over him apart from age. Very different players. The issue is that a stiker replaces Flemming who does a lot of work in picking the ball up deep, closing lines down and that sort of defensive work. His crossing is not great. He has put some wonderful crosses in but I think it's harsh to judge him too much as he rarely has anyone in the box. Ref didn't miss easy chances or make poor decisions. You can't rely on them. In short we need to be the biggest decider and we weren't today.
