Re: Lancashire League Cricket!
Thanks! I remember having to give the scorebook to Stan Heaton at tea and again after every game - he didn't like to see any tippex! But I remember towards the end of the year when he told me that I'd gotten a lot neater over the season! I've had many nicknames over the years, but LCC were the only ...

Great to see the club paying tribute to David Capel! I was the scorer the day he came in as a sub-pro (if I remember correctly, it was in place of Manoj Prabhakar), and still remember that game - he was genuinely rapid! I remember we had a young player called Hesketh, who as a 14 your old I thought ...

Closest pub is Salty's in Grand Harbour, otherwise it's Fidel Murphy's on Seven Mile Beach. Both will show the mightly clarets if you ask nicely - though they might only put it on one small TV tucked away in a corner!

Jaidon Anthony 34 games 1 goal zero assists for Leeds in the Championship. Doesn’t inspire too much confidence but hopefully the best is yet to come. At least the window is open a while longer yet. Local rugby club is $6 for a 745ml big bottle - about 3 quid. Cheapest drinking by far!
Otherwise, a decent pint on tap would be $10 to $12 - 5 or 6 quid.

My rating is 1845 (last time I looked). I’ve not been under 1800 for a couple of years but never have quite made it to 1900 (highest was in the 1890s). When you start at first your rating is usually defaulted to around 1200 but goes up quickly if you win a few games. 1700 is considered good club pl...

If white queen moves to g8 then black Knight puts white in check, so more than two moves.
Nxg6 +
Bxg6 ++
Still checkmate in two.

Re: Chess puzzle
OK, if you move Q to g8 there are only 3 black pieces that can move. Kn to E6, G6, D7 or H7, P to E6 and Rook can go 4 places up H. None of those stop mate if Q then goes to A8 and if The Knight doesn't move to allow that you can go B to D5. What am I missing? Nothing. I still can't see how that's ...

Funny. Nobody accused of us buying the league until we started winning games.... Leicester going a different route to us, buying known, experienced players. It's the 2 move thing which is annoying me. You're right - BxG3 leads to mate too. But pointless as it is, PxD6 leads to check which will draw it out longer than 2 moves. In fact, that move rules out a bunch of answers on the basis it will add an extra move (or two). Thats why I thought you'd have t...
