Phil Gray is one I always find weird. We signed him on a free after we got promoted in 2000 (and I remember being impressed that we had a FULL, current Northern Irish international playing for us - how times have changed!) and he scored on his debut away at Bolton in our first game in the Champions...

I do remember the Wood signing being questioned as we'd just sold Gray but still had Vokes. Wood didn't feel like the Gray replacement a lot felt we needed.

I've been to New York twice. The first time, I met two Burnley supporting locals and it turned out his dad worked with my dad.

Dyche's 2013 summer transfer window, bringing in Arfield, Jones and Heaton on frees (+ Kightly on loan) is the best transfer window I think we've ever had. It was transformative beyond belief.

Many of last 6 teams to go back down have tried to play pretty football. You just can't do that as a promoted team and I think we've a far better chance of surviving under Parker, who knows how to set up a team defensively, than we had under Kompany.

Just spotted BBC and Netflix have released 'The Bombing of Pan AM 103' - a six part drama around the Lockerbie disaster and fight for justice

Sounds very similar to Lockerbie from SKY which was only released recently.

I think he likely got more pelters for signing Nick Pope after Charlton had just been relegated, especially as Boro' (who went up with us) signed Victor Valdés. That said, I don't particularly remember him getting pelters for either Heaton or Pope.
