You and me both, Mrs asked me to pick some up, I bought a book of 6 1st class stamps and gave £10. While waiting for my change I was asked for another 20p.
I thought they were about half that price.
The Penny Black eh!

I got pelters for suggesting that on Saturday.
I'd love to know where people think our first three points are coming from, if Sunderland isn't a must win.
For Burnley it’s certainly a must not lose given that Sunderland would already have opened a 6 point gap after just 2 games.

Brentford, Wolves and West Ham are the teams the promoted clubs have to target, in order of likelihood. IMHO. UTC. I have a feeling that Brentford will have strengthened significantly before the window closes. Quattara, their recent £42.5m acquisition signed too late to make his debut for Brentford...

Yeah definitely going to be a few 0-0s again. I heard a stat the other day that the last (only) time Parker had a full season in the Premier League- with Fulham- they scored a total of 9 goals at home all season! That is correct Fulham were one of the 3 lowest scoring teams at home that season alon...

Isak is determined to leave Newcastle and sign for Liverpool whilst Wissa is determined to leave Brentford and sign for Newcastle.
What their clubs actually want is immaterial it seems if players are able to force these moves through.

It's amazing what adversity can do. The entire team and support is together and the players are probably giving more because of it. Leicester have gone into this game as the overwhelming 1/12 favs with Wednesday priced up at 20/1. A certain degree of complacency has probably crept into the Leiceste...

Maresca said himself that all the Chelsea players on the way out were training alone. Good for him that he only has to concentrate on players he will use, but not helpful for Les and Brojas pre season. Xhaka will have been training with Leverkusen so won't have the same problem. It's an irrelevant ...

Not long before the there's an international break. I suspect we'll see the new signings starting after that once they've got a good month's training with the team under their belt. There is a reason why it is beneficial to get new players in as early as possible getting them up to full fitness and...

I honestly cannot see Southampton making top 6. They’re taking a massive gamble with their manager. Reims (2022-24) Still became the youngest manager in Europe’s top 5 leagues when he took over the Reins at Reims taking them on a 19 match unbeaten streak. Lens (2024-25) Still managed them for a sea...

Several dropped catches by England players this series claiming they lost the ball in the bright sun or floodlights when boundary fielding.
Presumably the expensive sunglasses perched on the top of caps are just a fashion statement and serve no practical purpose?

So proud of the ladies. They never know when they are beaten. Lucy Bronze is an incredible warrior, and to then learn she played the whole tournament with a broken tibia!
She should be given a bronze plaque to celebrate such an achievement.

A look at the County Championship Division 1 Table shows that a drawn match is the most likely result. Of the 10 teams they have all drawn more matches than they have won (apart from Somerset who have won 4 and drawn 4). Unlike Test matches they only span 4 and not 5 days to get a result.

The oval is an absolute road also. The last county championship game at the Oval saw Surrey score 820-9 the third highest ever score in this country. Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s another draw. Brilliant Test Series thus far and great credit to India that we move on to the Oval for a 5th and final Test that is not a dead rubber.

Hope you didn’t spend too long looking since they are now long odds on with most High Street bookmakers (4/9 with William Hill).

Looking at him out in the middle I’m pretty sure he will miss the rest of the series.
Undoubtedly that will be the case that he will not play in the 5th Test and will only play as a batter in the rest of this game.

Presumably this is the next round of County matches being played with the Kookaburra ball where huge batting totals don’t count for much. Middlesex scored over 600 before declaring. The problem being that the opposition then goes on to occupy the crease and put on a big total.

The most shocking bit for me is that we have spend £250m on transfers in the last 5 years just to end up with a top end championship squad. I haven’t checked it out but I would imagine that most clubs considered as “established” in the PL have spent well in excess of that figure. Bournemouth, for e...

That is correct and very valid, however I will counter that with saying that football in this country has moved on in the past half dozen years, as much as at any time in the past thirty. The new owners upsetting the settled top four/six has pushed things on financially for everyone, it's become a ...

This latest Test debacle from the West Indies helps to mask the real problems that Australia have with their batting lineup. Khawaja and Konstas hardly inspire at the top of the order with Konstas recording ducks in 2 of his last 4 Test innings and Khawaja reaching the veteran stage.

I note Stuart Broad, when asked, keeps lowering the target he would be happy for India to chase in this game. His last estimate was 230.
