Re: New desktop pc advice
I think a lot of people have strayed off topic and posted what they would like as a gaming PC. I use a £144 AOC 27" monitor (amazon bargain) and a £115 GEFORCE GTX 4GB 1050Ti graphics card and its wonderful for CIV VI/Total war warhammer2 etc. You really don't have to spend a lot of money on the per...

Re: James Bulger - 27 years...
you're seemingly incapable of understanding is that it was pretty much the first time kids of that age were in court for murdering a young child. There was no precedent. Not true at all.... one example of many, google 'Mary Bell'. She was out in 12 years for equally horrible crimes. I think the Jam...

Re: SUV recommendations
Firstly, don't be put off by Motorpoint salespeople. Yes, they are salespeople and have targets to meet like in any other line of sales work but having happily purchased 5 or 6 motors from them over the years I have never felt pressured to buy a single one of them. Exactly this -including my latest...

Re: Change of car
I've had a Citroen (recently-ish) and a Renault in the past - can honestly say they were no worse than the fords or Vauxhall's I've owned - although to be fair both were near new so maybe problems hadn't surfaced. Or maybe I was just lucky but given the partnerships between manufacturers these days ...

Re: Change of car
French rubbish? Think you need to start looking at what France is coming out with these days, some very highly rated cars (e.g. 3008) that will be a lot more wallet friendly that the Ranger. Currently having an expensive to run 4*4 I'd certainly entertain some of that rubbish.

BMW X5, fabulous car - but I'm about to get rid of it as it costs a small fortune to run.

Nothing boring about a lada - more interesting that most cars on the road! Just can't understand why some people on here would have me down as a great driver when I owned a clapped out, dent ridden, ford for 8 years but now I have a BMW I suddenly can't drive.

how much jealousy in the threads about cars on this site? Every single time, boring an predictable. Just because I don't drive a boring sh*theap doesn't make me a bad driver.

Re: Grace Davis
There's a bunch of very bitter people on here who've achieved pretty much the sum of nothing in their lives. Good luck to Grace in the future, really nice to see a young, local girl - who still speaks like one - do so well. Oh, and if the detractors had bothered watching it you'd also know that the ...

Re: Job interview - Any advice appreciated
I've worked at a university for the last 20 years and been on a number of interview panels - mainly for admin and IT jobs. Reading the spec you've put there are two things they will want to judge from the interview, one side of it only you'll be able to convey- i.e. how well you'll be able to deal w...

Re: Car advice please
I'd seriously consider the cross climate (Michelin) tyres. Whatcar did an in depth review and came to the conclusion they were only marginally worse than dedicated winter tyres in snow but performed well in summer. Saves the money on getting extra rims - and the storage hassle/changing wheels every ...

Re: O/T Torn Rotator Cuff
I tore the rotator cuff in my right shoulder 10 year ago and it took around a year and a half to heal completely. Did my own physio as recommended by the doctor (never offered to be referred and I'm too tight to pay for my own), no injections offered etc. The year and a half felt like an eternity as...

Very little coverage of the EU expenses scandal I notice. John Claude Drunker using a private €240000 private jet to get to rome(I think). Probably to pi**** to get a normal flight. You've an extra zero in there and there were 9 people on it. Still agree it looks like its taking the p*ss take but f...

I also forgot to mention there's a whole separate industry set up to clean blocked DPF's. If they were that good and efficient then there wouldn't be a need for them. Basically sums up the whole motor industry, garages are there because clutches fail/gaskets blow/turbos need replacing etc. Cars are...

I' My advice is avoid diesels and also avoid at all costs Motorpoint How can some people have such a different experience of cars? I've nothing but good words to say about Motorpoint - you get what you know you are buying, the cars are fine and are as expected for a second hand car - had a ford foc...

Re: used car buying advice please
Sydney, your advice/experience re. the DPF (regeneration etc) is good sound advice, but my point was it wouldn't be the only thing I'd focus on when looking at whether that Civic would be a good buy. Personally if i were set on buying a car that age/mileage I'd want to pay for an independent inspect...

Re: used car buying advice please
If its got a diesel particulate filter /DPF don't bother buying it. If it hasn't got one that's not a bad price. Not sure why you feel so strongly about the DPF. Yes, things can go wrong but I don't personally know anyone who's had an issue with one - I've had at least 5 cars with them and not a hi...
