Re: Steven Fletcher Retires from Football
Really good player, you could tell he was a real 'level up' from the signings we'd made previously. Strong and had a great touch. Did have a very good career but could perhaps argue it could have been even better with the ability he had.

That rule caused a lot of controversy in one of the previous competitions. I think the Americans played an injured player, exacerbated it, then withdrew him for the singles, the resulting half point proving crucial.

Became a journo favourite because he’s somewhat erudite and his success in Sweden was a bit of a novelty for an English manager. But when you actually look at his record, there’s nothing really there - ok at Swansea, very mixed at Brighton (had a good season with them but also nearly took them down)...

It’s not, but he’s probably weighed it up and thought comfortable guaranteed salary, and no doubt getting a lot of assistance and advice re transferring to a coaching role once he retires, is worth it.

Saw him way back in the early 00's supported by Frank Sidebottom (RIP) somewhere in Manchester - was in great form back then but he must be cracking on a bit now.

Best centre forward display I’ve seen on the Turf, certainly up there at least, was Harry Kane when he scored the hat trick back in 2017. Wasn’t just his goals, his off the ball movement and general link up play was world class.

Like I said. He would have been told what was happening. They’re looking at, at least 48 games. Both will get game time. People are just taking it as Pep has said to him he’s number 1, then signed another gk behind his back. Won’t have happened. Dunno, that does appear to be exactly what’s happened.

They've still got plenty of quality, but I'm amazed he's dropped his £70m striker again. Also Dorgu, who I thought had been one of their better players. Seems wedded to 3-4-3. Keep it tight for half an hour and you never know.

Nuno has just done a press conference where he's basically confirmed the relationship with the owner has considerably broken down.
While I'm no fan of Marinakis, they have spent quite a bit, despite losing Elanga, so his comments about the squad are slightly odd.

He’s totally out of order for calling the guy out by name. It’s his livelihood and if a player wanted to use his services, that’s down to the player. Injuries can happen at any time. Looks like Josh Brownhill and Armando Broja have worked with him so he’s clearly well regarded.

You get the impression his agents have been writing cheques that they can't cash. The only club I've seen with concrete interest are Leicester but that would just be a bizarre move consider he had a Premier League contract on the table for him.
