Sticking with the back 5 then!
You'd imagine so. Tuanzebe central with Esteve and Laurent either side
Also possible that it's a 3 man midfield of Laurent, Florentine and Cullen. Tuanzebe and Esteve could be a central back 2
But I'd be surprised away from home

Reading that report about the last match at Villa Park is demoralising Already had 2 or 3 of these decisions this season And I'm expecting more today We can beat Villa But I've no doubt there will be people trying to stop that Oh. How is that a foul and a booking for winning the ball ? Refs are ruining the game .
That decision was absolutely inexcusable
I can forgive refs making genuine mistakes. But that's just a complete inability to understand basic football

Isn't that another straight red for Hulme of Sunderland.
Did he even get booked?? Some awful refereeing in this game. Mings got absolutely clattered a while back. Gave Sunderland a throw in. Konsa won a fair header yards in front of the ref. Gave Sunderland a free kick. Absolutely useless

It's as bad as people who say Tannoy when they mean "public address system". Tannoy is a brand name.
Wikipedia article says it can be used generically
Like Jacuzzi, Biro, Hoover, Chapstick, Dictaphone, AstroTurf, Frisbee, Fibreglass.....

Agree. He lost the plot a bit. A Watford fan told me his post match interviews at the end reminded him of his time there. Blaming anyone and everyone, but taking no personal responsibility
Still. Selles had to go. An absolute shambles yesterday

I'd want a red if that was a tackle on one of ours in 2025, fine attempt to win the ball in 1986 https://x.com/TurfCastPodcast/status/1966858714939617555 100% a yellow But I can't see that as a red in a million years That's not frustration boiling over That's not an attempt to injure another player...

Whether or not the presentation of the graphic is correct, it still clearly shows that no part of the defender’s body that is considered in offside decisions is playing Foster onside, therefore he’s offside. I don't understand that logic at all If the line had been drawn 30 yards in front of Foster...

That updated graphic just confirms what everyone (except Rileybobs) has been saying For the purposes of determining offside, the upper boundary of the arm is in line with the bottom of the armpit. The updated graphic doesn't show the the line being drawn through this part of the defender either. The...

Simplest way to say is if any part of the attacking player is in line with the defending player, then he’s onside So if the attackers back foot is in line with the defending front foot then onside But this just swaps one problem for another. You then sometimes have to mark the back of one player. A...

daylight is an absolute. you can either see it or you can't. but i'll settle for clear daylight. Offside is an absolute too It's just not that easy to measure objectively So how do you definitively say there is daylight or not? that won't simplify it. a millimeter is still a millimeter even on a football boot. daylight is the answer because it's either there or it isn't. imagine var taking 8 seconds rather than 8 minutes. All depends on how the game goes. They have created chances against Arsenal and Fulham. If they take one, pressure is off, and we will find it very difficult to get back into it. But if they aren't ahead at half time then I can see it turning very toxic, similar to that win away at WHU a few years ago

Just occurred to me that 90 minutes tonight feels impossible for Sonne to be in a back 5 on Saturday, given how Scott is managing the minutes. So that could be a 4. I get it with the player ratings, but why is the MotM vote limited to time played? Say someone had come on with 10 minutes left, we are 2-0 down, and then he scores one and sets up another. Then scores a winning pen in the shootout. His contribution would have been undoubtedly worthy of MotM, but he...

I absolutely agree with all of that Rowls (apart from the small bit about blowing as soon as its a foul - I'd happily give the refs a few seconds, 3 or 4 fine, to think about the big decisions where a goal is possibly imminent)
9/25 is quite a generous score

Would you bring Edwards on when you’re 1-0 up with 10 mins to go ? That’s the question you need to ask . Instinctively it sounds like a bad idea. But it does give the opposition a completely different problem to deal with. One issue with defending a lead late on is that you invite pressure. And lat...

I think it will be 5 at the back still with JBL as RBW. Hope not but I think that’s the way he will go He played there against Lazio. Also Josh Laurent ended up as a RCB against Lazio. Precisely this. From what VAR official said ~ (Anthony) wasn't going to get to it / not in posession of the football, they're basically inferring that it's ok to run and push players over no matter where on the pitch. It's nothing to do with whether he has the ball or not. Not for the first time, V...

I think the Tarkowski one is really interesting and I'm not sure I know what is right and wrong yet It looks like he moves his arm towards the ball, but then moves his body towards it and pulls his arm behind his body. Anywhere else on the pitch it’s a foul.Maybe we should instruct our defenders to barge people in the back off the ball because apparently it’s not a foul if they’re nowhere near the ball. Exactly. Honestly and I've never been more certain about anything, ever: Anthony IS NOT a Premier League wing back.
Would you start Anthony?
Many think he is fully deserving of his place, but you seem to have an anti-Anthony agenda
