Re: Jack Reacher - the books

I can recommend ‘I am Pilgrim’ by Terry Hayes, fantastic read, one of the best books I’ve ever read. Also, not a series, but all the Frederick Forsyth books are tremendous in my opinion. All were very current with the time he wrote them and I always got a sense they were loosely based on true events...

Re: Tour de France 2024 edition. Advice.

I’ve been to the tour 3 times over the last 11 years. My advice would be if you’re doing a mountain stage get there at least 24 hours before, you may have to walk 5 or 6 kms to the summit, especially if you can’t get roadside near the summit in your van. We got to within 3km of Galibier summit, mana...

Re: We are definitely capable of beating Brighton

I worry about Ekdal, especially as we want to play out from the back. I think he under hits all his passes, which puts the receiver under pressure, they are easily closed down waiting for his pass. Just my observation. I thought it didn’t help on Tuesday because Berge was off the pace as well, took ...

Re: France recommendations

I have stopped in Clermont-Ferrand and Le Puy-en-velay (where the lentils originate allegedly!) on recent tour de France holidays. I was in my campervan so can't recommend any accommodation, but those were two fantastic places to visit, very welcoming people too. I've not been disappointed with anyw...

Re: Gareth Southgate

Another thing which hasn't been mentioned is the fact that our 'first eleven' (well most of it) has been rested since we played Panama. That's not the case for the Colombians who had to go for it in their last game. I do appreciate the momentum of winning, but fatigue catches up with you at some poi...

Re: Tuchel Everton....phew!

I can see Unsworth getting the job until summer, with Dyche being in the frame to take over then. The timing would probably suit a lot of the parties involved. Except us of course!

Re: SD is he afraid to move on?

dsr - good point!

It's absolutely amazing that we're talking fine margins between being in the European places! I never thought I'd be posting something like that!

Long may it continue.

Re: SD is he afraid to move on?

I would like to add my opinion. I have to agree with ablueclaret, in reference to us lacking a threat up front. Sean Dyche is the best manager I have seen at Burnley, I've been watching since 1985. But as he readily points out he's still learning. I think turning us into a potent attacking threat is...

Re: No CB?

Yes. I have played football. At semi professional level. Which I believe allows me a slightly informed opinion. I was defender, I played full back and centre half. A lot of full backs, with height and who can head a ball can do a job there. Which is the point I was trying to make. The key thing is t...

Re: No CB?

What would a first choice CB cost? My estimation £15 million? Bear in mind Jonny Evans was touted at £20+ million. I think he'd have been great for us by the way, but that's the going rate for someone of his quality. Do I think we should be paying that? Not sure we should be breaking the record for ...

Re: New Order vs Joy Division.

I have to go along with Digital for Joy Division, so good I've had some of the lyrics tattooed! I never thought I'd say this but I can't stop listening to Singularity from the 2015 Music Complete album. I heard it first at last summers Glastonbury (on TV). I think it's as good as some of the fantast...

Re: TOTAL EMBARRASMENT

Gutted.

However, we're in the Premier League and doing alright. Today is a great example of why this competition is great, if we look back 30 years and do a role reversal, we wouldn't trade. Let's give them credit and move on to securing our PREMIER LEAGUE status.
