Re: BBC Sports Personality of the Year

I don't watch any longer as it's not like it used to be (as others have already alluded to). But I think if I was Jason Kenny I'd be seriously wondering why I wasn't in the final six shortlisted. Being at the very top of the all time list of our gold winning olympic medallists with SEVEN surely meri...

Re: Biggest Burnley Flop?

Many "not so wonderful" candidates already included but - in their time here - I would suggest Nick Pickering certainly deserves a place in the squad as must Mark "Ratner" Kendall who threw one in (or probably nearer three would be the truth) at Blackpool and then had the cheek to flick the V's at u...

Re: Ted Dexter RIP

RIP Lord Ted - Comments from mkmel earlier mirror exactly my position. Born and bred in Warwickshire so I should have no allegiance to Sussex whatsoever but I too have followed/supported them for 60 years simply because of seeing Ted Dexter as a kid. (Jim Parks was pretty damn good too as was the gr...

Re: Worst ever individual performance by a Burnley player ?

Dave Jones is one that springs to mind. Not our most recent Dave Jones (midfield) but the one who was supposed to be a striker that we got from Doncaster (I think) in 1989. Unless my memory is playing tricks it was in a home game against Scunthorpe 11th March 89. Absolutely useless. He seemed to be ...

Re: Tonight's footy 21/7/20 (Relegation Decider)

If Villa and Watford end up level on points and Villa have a better GD (which is very possible if Man City play anything like v Watford) it will be courtesy of Michael Oliver's faulty watch in the first game back after lockdown that Villa stay up. By rights they should have got "nil points" against ...

Re: Favourite season without promotion or a trophy

For me it's got to be 1973/74. Wonderful team, wonderful football. If it hadn't been for Norman Hunter's assault on Frank Casper the week before the FA cup semi I'm sure we would have gone on to win the cup that year.

Re: Who does this remind you of ?

Some great shouts - I think it most looks like 'Arry' to me - hence mention of the wink but I can see it could also be any of the others mentioned. I did think of giving another clue of Roly Poly Pudd'n - but that would also apply to Garth Crooks !! Michael Gove was a good call but I think it's got ...

Who does this remind you of ?

During lock down - to pass an hour or so away - I decided to smarten up a few garden "accessories". Eventually I got to this character and immediately he seemed to wink at me making me think of a certain Mr ......? Quite an obvious striking resemblance I think - but I wondered if others had gnomes (...

BFC supporter on Ch 5 Wild Animal Rescue (Thu 7-8pm)

To those who might be watching the Wild Animal Rescue series on Channel 5 - look out for the Clarets supporters "car scarf" in the part where the badger cubs are loaded into the car ready to be taken for release. Part of Thursday's episode - 11-15 am to 12-10 pm and repeated 7 pm to 8 pm. Us Clarets...

Re: Playing back Hi 8/Digital 8 tapes on Smart TV

If you can connect a DVD player to the smart TV and then plug your camcorder into the DVD player you should (hopefully) be able to play your Hi8/Digital tapes through the DVD player and onto the TV screen. I used to do mine this way - but my TV wasn't a "smart" one. If you are able to play your tape...

Re: Sad news - Jimmy McIlroy

A very sad day indeed for all Burnley FC supporters with the death of the great "Jimmy Mac"- the finest player to ever wear the famous claret and blue. Not only a superb player in every respect but a true sportsman and gentleman who always had time for people. They say never meet your idol - as they...

Re: Not born in Burnley never lived in Burnley but still a Claret?

I believe the old saying goes something like - "give me a boy of 7 and I'll show you the man". Well I was born and bred in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire. The junior school I went to was in nearby Whitnash and I played for the school team from age 7. Our colours were claret and sky blue shirts, white ...
