Re: Wimbledon 2025
To win the fifth set in normal tennis, you need 24 points. Plus a few points in the games you lose, of course - say 32 points. You're only saving about a third of the set, and you're likely to lose a lot of the excitement. Remember table tennis reduced their games from 21 points to 11 because they ...

Re: Wimbledon 2025
Some very close and exciting matches so far, well worth watching.
I still feel that 2 sets are too few and 5 sets are too many - why not a minimum of 3 sets and a maximum of 4 sets. If it’s 2 sets all then (instead of a fifth set) play first to 20 points tiebreak.

Re: Burnley Wakes Fair On Fulledge, 1959
The whole area of Turf Moor and Fulledge has a fascinating sporting history. It was/is a very flat area of town being the flood plane for the river Calder which made it perfect for a horse racing track, an athletics track (Athletic street), a cricket ground and ultimately a football ground/stadium. ...

I’ve sent an email to Burnley MP Oliver Ryan asking him to visit this run down area of Burnley. Let’s hope he can ‘bang a few heads together’ at local and county council level and make this area much more pleasant for visitors to the town.

Enjoy playing there about 4 times a year but it seems to be getting quieter each time. Admittedly the course is a little bit ‘rough around the edges’ which adds to the challenge (a bit of an understatement) and the third green is in a real mess and imo needs completely replacing. It just feels that ...

Yes, I do have an online current account (via a smartphone app) and it’s VERY convenient to use but there are so many horror stories about accounts being hacked that I’m seriously considering going back to a non-online account however inconvenient it might be.
