Re: The Good Old Days Playing Football
Playing somewhere near Bacup on a pitch resembling the north face of the Matterhorn in a swirling snowstorm and having your centre half convinced he had just seen a woolly mammoth on the moors in the distance!

...I bought a record called "Forever Changes" by Love. I think it sold about 500 copies but has since been compared with "Sgt Pepper" and "Pet Sounds". It will always remind me of a wonderful Easter spent in Bristol with a beautiful young lady. What memories music evokes!

Re: Who do you remember today 11th November
Mr Peter Stanworth, with occasional interruptions, had served St. Stephen’s School from as early as 1903 when he began his scholastic career as a monitor. It was on him, a member of an old Burnley Wood family, that the Headmaster’s mantle fell in 1914. Then on March 27th 1917 Mr Stanworth wrote in t...

Re: The old Saturday Sports Pink
Growing up in Sunderland in the 50's we had a Sports Pink, until the team were relegated for the first time in their history in 1958. The paper then became green, until we were promoted again when it reverted to pink, (unfortunately not for long) then green again! I remember going down to Mr Harvey'...

Denis Law... Always remembered this poem from a few years back, sorry not sure of the author "I live at 14 Stanhope Street, Me Mum, me Dad and me. And three of us have made a gang, John Stokes and Trev and me. Our favourite day is Saturday; We go Old Trafford way And wear red colours in our coats To...

[quote="cricketfield73"]Nighthawks by Edward Hopper. I always find this painting captivating. The innocence of the scene with the intriguing mystery of exactly what's going on. I agree. In fact most of Hopper's work is enigmatic, you wonder what his characters are thinking. His paintings influenced ...
