Hard to captain a team who aren't even doing the basics correctly, the only person that springs to mind who might be able to whip this motley crew into shape is Ben Stokes for me.

I'm surprised the game is resuming this evening, but if it's the players who've made that choice then fair enough I suppose. However I'm still in shock from just seeing the incident on telly, so I can't imagine how scrambled their minds must be, and I wouldn't have thought they'd be able to focus on...

I just checked the test score for the first time today in the last few minutes after having the footy on most of the afternoon. What a shambles of a batting display that was, I'd call it schoolboy cricket, but that would be doing a disservice to the schoolboys. The only highlight of the day was seei...

New Zealand's day by a big margin, and a frustrating toil in the field for England, but they only have themselves to blame, Root dropped a dolly and England arguably didn't get the rub of the green with the Crawley catch which did appear to have carried, but that's clutching at straws. Middlesex 100/1 at the halfway stage, so need about 12 an over, however if Morgan stays in for a while he could quickly make mincemeat of that target.

There's already been 13 6's in the space of 30 overs, so the short boundary is proving profitable for the batters.

Slow but steady start by the openers 23/0 in the 12th, it looks a decent pitch, so England need to make hay after getting first dibs with the bat, 350-400 is a minimum they should be looking for.

Too early to say really, but you'd expect all 3 relegated sides to be pushing towards the top end of the table, and there's usually one surprise package, which next season could well be Middlesbrough under Warnock, if there's one thing he knows it's how to get teams out of the Championship.
