Re: Coventry v Burnley 1975 - ITV 4
Thanks for posting the link CT. When i saw the title of the thread i hoped it was going to be the outstanding 3 - 0 win rather than the slightly fortunate win the following season. I remember the after game analysis showing it should not have been a free kick. What a difference in those two seasons,...

Think it’s earlier than 1966, Morgan and Ternent both look young. From what I remember Morgan had longer hair by the time he established himself in the first team.

The comment about Burnley’s goals against Plymouth from dsr is largely correct. For the second goal Anthony is in an offside position when the goal is scored, for the third Roberts is in an offside position, for the fifth it is Flemming, there may be some doubt about the fourth goal. Only watched on tv so no ratings but thought he was excellent, pleasing to see only one card!
Think it would have been harsh on Coventry if we had been given a penalty, would not have been happy if it had been given against us.

Can’t really be described as the best goal but a very bizarre one from the tiny John Price. I do not remember the opponents but I think this was the second goal in a 2 0 win. The pitch was incredibly muddy and Burnley were defending, Price cleared the ball by kicking it as hard as he could. It trave...

There was a lot wrong with the earlier offside law. Whether a player in an offside position was interfering with play was entirely down to the opinion of the referee! It’s like a player attempting a tackle but missing the ball and tripping the opponent, the act of making the tackle is deliberate but the act of missing the ball is accidental., but it’s a foul.
