Re: And now for some good news…
I had the pleasure of an evening in the pub with him a few years back. Despite being confident that we'd be going down, he was exactly as you'd expect, a thoroughly good bloke. Good news indeed, his tweet shows what it means to him.

Re: Tour of Pendle - Fell Race
Thanks for the advice folks. I'm actually down in Hertfordshire, so running the Chilterns is what's attracting me to try some fells (appreciate it's a step up). Heading out along the coastal path down in Devon last week has encouraged me to think more seriously about entering. I think maybe a couple...

Tour of Pendle - Fell Race
Have any folk run this in the past, or plan to run this year? I have always been a decent runner, run very regularly and have run half/marathons in the past. Recently i have begun to enjoy running hills but have never done a fell race. The conditions for entry on the Tour of Pendle website suggest m...

Didn’t expect it to be tough to give tickets away. I have found a home for them, hoping that the goodwill continues to pass forward.
Thinking of you and your family 3561. Take care and UTC!

Very generous 3561, the kind of stuff that helps the world go round. Anyone who fancies taking their daughter/son/niece/nephew, drop me your email and I’ll flick the tickets over.

Passing It On
Having rushed home from work on Wednesday evening, i was stood at the front of the queue for a taxi at the local station (a queue of two). After 5-10 minutes a single taxi finally arrived. The bloke behind me in the queue asked where i was going and whether I'd be happy to share, given there were no...

Re: HMRC scam phone call
You need to be very careful with simply checking numbers. It's possible for them to mimic a legitimate number. I was almost caught a couple of years ago by a scammer calling from the HSBC lost/stolen card number on the back of my bank card! If they say they're calling from the bank and you're unsure...

I could very much recommend "A Small Light" on Disney+. Tells the story of Anne Frank from the perspective of the brave people who hid her and her family.claptrappers_union wrote: ↑Thu Jun 15, 2023 6:32 amSteering clear of Disney+ at the moment. They're

Re: Kris Kamara
A few years back i got a message from the Mrs saying "there's a bloke in our office called Chris who works for Sky Sports, the lads seem quite excited about it. I'm not sure who he is." They were all about to head down to pub, so I wandered down to meet them. Turned out one of her colleagues also wo...

Re: Port De Pollenca
Bondia didn’t commit but said come down and they would see what they can do. They asked how many Clarets would be there, if any others are out this way and fancy joining?

Port De Pollenca
Anyone watching in Port De Pollenca tomorrow, or can recommend somewhere likely to be showing the match? Assuming it could be a challenge with the CL games.

IB52 - Clearly in Ober my head. You're spot on. Haven't been to Obertauern for a long time but it used to be the Edelweiss on the slopes which had a brilliant atmosphere and then down to the Lurzer Alm for a few more afterwards. Too long since i was there to comment really. At least you know to avoi...

Re: FAO Any skiers
If you're talking about a mile of apres ski, then you're likely referring to Solden rather than Obertauern. Having been to many Austrian resorts, I would absolutely give it a swerve. It's a main road of seedy strip joints and not your typical Austrian family friendly, all shapes/sizes/ages apres. Th...

Re: UpTheClarets chefs: Cannellini beans?
Chuck them in a pan with enough water to cover, a veg stock cube/pot, a bit of garlic and a load of fresh rosemary. Simmer for around half an hour, drain any excess liquid, remove the large rosemary stalks and mash them up with a bit of decent olive oil. Goes really well with a nice piece of fish an...

Re: Not born in Burnley never lived in Burnley but still a Claret?
Having been born up near Manchester in 1986 my folks moved the family to Nottinghamshire a few months later, I have never lived in or around Burnley. Brainwashed by my old man, who was originally from Burnley and an avid Claret, I was taken to Field Mill for some wet mid-week matches (looking at pas...
