Re: Rulings on video examples of what constitutes a foul/penalty should be published to improve decision standardisatio
The difficulty with this is what a lot of people deem as a lack of consistency is in reality just a difference in a persons opinion of what actually happened An example might be in two games a striker appears to dive in the area to gain a penalty. Both referees do not give a penalty but one striker ...

Re: That Penalty then?
There was contact, I don’t deny that. However Silva dived, no doubt about it. If he had tried to stay upright we could have judged just how much he was impeded but he didn’t he dived like he’d been shot. If you think that the contact was sufficient for him to go down like he did then fair enough, i...

Re: That Penalty then?
You aren't reading what other people are writing at all, Imploding Turtle, and so you aren't taking account of what they are saying. This entire post is predicated on the presumption that the contact on Silva was sufficient to knock him out of his stride. In which case, as you say, its a foul. If y...

Re: That Penalty then?
Do you really ? When does he do this other when asked about an incident ? Compared to the abuse other managers give officials and the sending offs / subsequent bans have been given Dyche is an f'in saint. You are clearly not capable of holding an objective discussion on this subject so I will leave...

Re: Leaving early
I have only left early once but as a referee this did not go down well and I was suspended for 3 months because of it

Re: Video decision system
Also they should do post match interviews. People can accept wrong decisions. I dont think referees should do post match interviews because they cannot lie and not comment like a manager can and it would just be a witch hunt and lead to even more disrespect for referees. Instead why not make the ma...

Re: That Penalty then?
It seems to me that we both agree that the key question is whether the attacker was genuinely impeded by Nick Pope. And I suppose my point is that no-one really knows, because we don't know what would have happened had Silva tried to play on. By going down theatrically, in a way that bore no propor...

Re: Video decision system
Goal line technology has been a revelation but this is a step too far and referees have been let down by players and managers who stoke up the media and fans creating total disrespect and trust of a professional referees opinion. The day opposition managers and opposition fans can watch a video repl...

Re: That Penalty then?
Thanks - always interesting to get a refs perspective. But to be clear, you are saying that any contact on a player who has possession of a ball - lets say a centre half gently leaning into a player to make sure the ball runs out for a goal kick - is a foul, and if in the penalty area, a penalty? T...

Re: That Penalty then?
If it was the other way round I'd have said the same. This claret specs thing is just ******** - many of those who feel it shouldn't have been a penalty have all previously said things about decisions that wouldn't have been in Burnley's favour. Then your incorrect opinion is entirely valid and I a...

Re: That Penalty then?
As an official referee let me end this discussion with a few points - Those likening the foul to jostling at a corner are missing one vital factor. Contact when competing for a ball is fine but when one player has control of the ball and the other player contacts him then this is when it goes from j...
