Re: Hobbies other than football
Field Archery is my main hobby now.
I’m just starting to build a workshop in the garage as well so that I can have a go at decimating some wood. Workbench is the first project which will come in handy I hope ( if it gets finished !!!!)

Re: Kefalonia
Flights direct from the UK in January may be a problem, it certainly is for Zante. I’m led to believe that the way to do it is to fly into Athens and then an internal flight across to the Ionian islands or travel overland !!!!!!

Re: Kefalonia
I agree with neatly everything mentioned on this thread. Assos has it for me, the drive down the mountain is simply stunning. I wouldn't recommend driving down to Myrtos beach in October unless it's a really nice day. It's VERY stoney with no sand to speak of and the undertow on less than a perfect ...

I love the Spitfire so do my kids but my favorite is the Mosquito it would be amazing to see 1 fly but not going to travel to NZ to have the pleasure if that 1 is still flying. My al time favorite though is the Vulcan such a shame it can no longer fly. Hi JC No need to go to NZ. All three airworth ...

Re: Supermarine Spitfire
Ah the Mosquito. In my opinion the most beautiful aircraft ever designed and built to do a deadly job. For a short time during the war the fastest aircraft in the sky. It was so well designed I believe it was used in more roles than any other allied aircraft and was the plane the Germans feared the ...

I identified both this guy and Steve Mounie both from Montpellier around January to my mates as the sort of players we should be scouting at the very least. Yes we may have done, I don't know ????. One has turned up up in the top English division for around £11 million this summer, and the other has...

Re: Fat Pipe Padiham
According to what my grandfather told me. The pipe did indeed supply seawater from Southport which was used for the extraction of magnesium for used in the rebuilding of our munition stocks after WW1 mostly in fuses. The chemical works was what became Hepworth Plastics and consisted of 4 factories 2...

Re: Club crest. Why did we revert back?
If I remember correctly the 1974 crest was a design that won a competition for a new crest for the shirts via the Burnley Express and the club in around 1974. I distinctly remember my school taking part and I believe most of the schools in Burnley also took part. It was annoying when a professional ...

Art and Soul gallery has now gone.
If your interested you will have to go to either Storm Art opposite the old White Horse, or the Picture House Gallery at the top of the hill.

Re: Summer transfer rumours.
There's a young lad at Ipswich that caught my eye over the weekend. Josh Emmanuel. The perfect build for the modern CH/FB, seems to read the game well for a young lad, bags of pace to burn. Just a pity the season is over as I would like to have a longer look at him. To me if he has the intelligence ...

Re: Steel Toe Caps
Your employer cannot set how often you can have a pair per year. They have to provide them on request as long as the boots you have are no longer fit for purpose. That's the law as laid down in the 1974 Health and Safety at work act. It really pees me off when employers start fiddling with what is t...

Re: Steel Toe Caps
Quite obviously the boots provided by your employer are not fit for purpose "if being used sensibly". PPE is the responsibility of the employer to provide in law ( 1974 safety at work) the only provision being " where reasonably practicable ", which normally means "cost" . That doesn't mean one size...

Re: What Junior Football team did you play for ?
Yes Stanley of "Nelson Stanley" was a legend. I was there as well around 73/74. We played in the Craven Jnr league. I remember Sacred Heart and Earby were our nearest rivals but I don't think we lost a game whilst I was there. I remember Stan recruited almost exclusively from Pendle and Burnley town...
