Re: Looking promising for Saturday

As far as I am aware the club have plans for a team to be working from the early hours of the morning to ensure the Turf and surrounding areas are fit for kick off time. I can still remember the Arsenal game some years ago now where the pavements and surrounding areas were lethal but we still had a ...

Re: Do you Feed The Birds?

It's great having a garden full of birds so I keep my feeders pretty full, though with the abundance of squirrels they all have to be pest proof. As with some previous posts the occasional visit of a Sparrowhawk is always kind of exciting and rarely ends in a kill. Now and again I have visits from m...

Re: ARTICLE: Arthur’s Bungalow

In my earlier years watching the Clarets Arthur Bellamy was part of the fixtures and fittings, employed in many roles as Tony's article so clearly states. I have always had a close affinity with him if only because I was born in the same little town of Blackhill. I guess he will have loved the outdo...

Re: The Berlin wall

I was there in '89 around December time when it was all changing. The East German border guards were still in place but you could actually walk through Checkpoint Charlie into the East but the guards were a bit twitchy on both sides.

Re: Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri

I thought the same, it had nowhere to go so just fizzled out. The rest of the film was brilliant though. Everybody's favourite bit must be when she sticks her head out of the car window and delivers that peach of a line to the news reporter :) I actually thought the ending was fine with the two cha...

Yes I believe it was Michael McDonagh who directed the Guard but I'm pretty sure Martin was invovlved. Still a pair of talented brothers.

Re: Granddad vs Grandad

Don’t take it too serious. I just thought at 38 you would probably not be a Grandad yet and maybe not for a while so it seemed a little of lighthearted banter.

Im just happy reading this thread. Hindsight is a wonderful thing but there are some great posts from August. It’s early days yet but we deserve Aaron Lennon and he deserves us.

Re: Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri

Watched this when it was released a few weeks ago and yes it is excellent. Didn’t expect it to start picking up awards though as I have equally enjoyed other Martin McDonagh movies that have hardly made it big such as the Guard and In Bruges although Seven Psychopaths did seem to get more press cove...

Thanks for all your input. Brunlea has mentioned the Jolly Roger which I have been told about recently. Getting tickets from the clu seems a good idea too.

The singing from the Cricketfield end was stilted at times but there’s no doubting the noise when we scored was awesome

I’m seriously looking forward to the game. Never done a foreign ground on match day, if you discount the Oval in Belfast.

Re: FC St Pauli

They’re in league 2 now and I reckon we’ll get tickets through the club in advance. Checked out their website and it seems to be a typically efficient German set up. Just looking at where to go in the ground and local boozers.

FC St Pauli

Going to Hamburg in May and taking in a St Pauli home game. Has anyone been to the Millerntor-Stadion and if so any tips or advice about attending a game there. There will be 12 of us on a stag do so it’s not a case of sneaking in under the radar.
