I remember Alex Elder missing in one of the battles we had against Leeds. What about the other end of the pitch. The great Harry Thomson, my memory is probably a bit off but I think of the first 12 he faced 2 were missed and he saved 10.

Yes team spirit looks great. Seeing Trafford sprint the full length of the pitch when J Rod scored was great to see. I don't know if anybody counted but there was a spell in the first half when we had ten players camped in their half and passed the ball around for what seemed ages.

Yep like a few others have said, that game l was as wet as I have ever been in my life , soaked to the skin with water an inch deep in my pockets. I believe it was a good performance but I was to wet to care.

Yes NewClaret, to think most of the team had only played together on the training ground before the game the way they all dug in and grafted for each other was great to see and sets us up for a great season.

Hi durhamclaret , your first game v West Brom Tony will put me right but is that the game when John Talbot scored his only goal for Burnley? Unfortunately it was an own goal because we had sold him to West Brom the week before.

Sad dark days. I used to sit in the Cricket field stand and look at the empty terraces with a few groups stood around, I remember the night there was a firework display on the BeeeHole end. (Nov 5?)πŸ™„ . Then I think of the Bradford City replay with 52,000? On.

I don't know if it's their record attendance but around 72,000 turned up at Goodison for our fixture back in the early sixties. They really like watching us on Merseyside.

I thought he might have been sacked after the Bournemouth game which could have made it difficult for us on Saturday. When the guy next to me said he would be gone on Sunday I said he might be lucky to last that long, they. might not let him on the coach and tell him to make his own way home.

Like Royboy I was at the semi and the final and was going to go to that one as well but I started work the following Monday so couldn't make it. We also played them again in '65 and lost 3-4 after being 3-1 up (I think).
