If regular Premier League football and a place in next summers World Cup squad was his objective, he needs to have a hard look at his agent (David Eyres), who spent the summer briefing the media about the tiniest of developments to keep the momentum on a move going. If his objective was to become an...

A one trick pony but that trick was pretty good! I felt he was a bit soft in that if he got hurt he would always go off. Lot more to him than that, albeit in fits and starts. The ball with the outside of his foot vs Reading for Vitinho (?) and his second half performance vs Boro were outstanding.

I’m happy with being unhappy about human errors in real time.
What I can’t be arsed with is a poorly operated system which is supposed to correct those errors.

Sunderland have had an ideal set of starting fixtures. A club in disarray, another who have just lost their talisman manager and a fellow promoted side. With two of those three being at home, they couldn’t have asked for more to allow all their new players to build confidence whilst they were still ...

I agree with Parker in that we’re no longer looking to favour goals being scored.
We’ve got a system now designed to find reasons (however small and fractional) to deny goals.
If the rules that denied Foster and Fulham yesterday were correctly applied, then in my opinion the rules need reviewing.

I’ve found him a bit Jekyll and Hyde over the last 12 months.
There’s clearly a good player in there and we’ve seen serval games when the football is doing the talking. Unfortunately he also seems to have games where’s he’s too wrapped up in the size or state of the game and he just gets lost.

On the offside yesterday there is a different graphic now realised which clarifies this a little. Sorry, there’s a different graphic for the offside? Aren’t they meant to release the graphic that led them to their decision? What’s this latest graphic then? I’m not sure issuing new graphics hours af...

The contention is surely that the very point at which the ball leaves the passer’s foot cannot be accurately captured by camera freeze frame. So in the Foster offside decision where the margin is in millimetres, how can we be certain that the freeze frame image we’ve been shown of a small amount of...

At the game my feeling was he was a “homer”. He gave United everything they asked for (aside from the late penalty). Having watched the highlights I think he was even worse. According to VAR he got at least two major decisions wrong (although I’m not convinced about that second one) and, in addition...

Willing runner with little success first half, but he was excellent second half.
Not getting carried away just yet, but there’s hope that he might actually be the player Kompany said he would be when he signed two and a half years ago.

I'd rather he just suffered embarrassment wherever he went. I've no desire to see his dependants suffer for his views, and I've even less interest in my taxes subsidising him for the remainder of his working days
If he’s got dependents, I suspect they were suffering long before this.

From The Athletic: “Grimsby Town owner Jason Stockwood has revealed that Manchester United staff enquired as to where the manager’s dressing room would be at the 9,000-seater Blundell Park ahead of the team’s Carabao Cup game on Wednesday night — with Stockwood joking that his own manager David Arte...

I’d love him to make a significant contribution this season, but I’m long past believing that to be likely. There was a couple of clowns behind me last night who booed him onto the pitch and again when he went near the ball. The stifled boo as they realised he’d created the winning goal was pretty a...

They do training you know and haven’t just met each other tonight. Ah well, if they train together every day, we should absolutely expect the maximum out of them when they are formed into this particular XI for the very first time. We should particularly expect Broja, Humphrey and Ramsey to be at t...

We've eleven good individual players on the pitch. Some of them very good. Not quite a team though. Hoping we click in the second half. Can’t lose sight of the fact that this is a scratch side made up of several players starting their first competitive games in 6 months or more. I’d be amazed if it...

If you’re under 50, there’s a strong chance you’ll see Burnley play home games in a new stadium within your life time. I don’t think we’ll move in the next 5-10 years, but as the stands get even older, a future owner is going to see a new stadium as the way forward for a variety of reasons. If we’re...

You have to assume his ability is on the wane if that’s the best move he could get (albeit he’s off home).

As above (and with Flemming on the other thread), we’re two games into the season. Anything could happen yet.
Perhaps it’s a horses for courses job. Sunderland are side of big lads. Maybe Parker felt it might prove to be too physical a game for him.

Found it a little bit strange. I know he started out there as a kid and he’s a talented player, but in dragging in Wright to hype him up, you’d think they’d just signed Messi in his prime. When all said and done he’s 27 years old and hasn’t yet played regularly either at european or international le...

It’s August and they’ve already lost more league games than we did during the whole of last season.
