Re: **** VAR
'Daylight' only works as a deciding factor if you can guarantee the view is at exactly 90 degrees to the touchline across the pitch. Shift it a degree or two either way and 'daylight' appears or disappears.

Re: **** VAR
Sorry, they’ve not shown it’s in advance, as the line is not correctly drawn. It's not a great graphic, but there is a vertical line drawn from Foster's shoulder, and one drawn through the defender's arm. Assuming they both line up with the red line on the grass, that is offside. Anyway, it matters...

Re: **** VAR
Then why is the defenders shirt also in colour? The defender should not have any part in colour. The line is wrong. I'm not sure on the colouring in convention, but in this case it's not really the issue. The line they've drawn shows Foster's shoulder is in advance of the defender's shoulder, foot,...

Agreed, but that's the technology that is used and in this instance it clearly says Foster is offside. That much is inarguable.

Re: **** VAR
Assuming the offside graphic to be accurate, the line is drawn to Foster's shoulder, being the most advanced part of his body that he can legally use, and it is further forward than any part of the defender's body that can be legally used.
Hence offside, correct decision, however close.

Re: **** VAR
Still haven't seen a conclusive angle showing that Anthony's foul continued into the box tbh. The part of the shirt that he was holding is surely the relevant bit, not the bit of the player that was diving over the line? Given that the initial decision was no foul it felt like quite a leap from VAR ...

Re: THE SUPER CLARETS vs Man U - Match Thread
Hard to argue that United didn't deserve the win over the 90 minutes but disappointing that 2 massively marginal decisions could have seen it go the other way. Plenty to take from the game, but also a few concerns about how much trouble United's front three and wingbacks caused us, particularly in t...

United well on top, but let's be honest they should be with the respective players on show. We've really struggled with their pace and movement up front. Looks like we're seeing the reaction from the Grimsby result too which is a bit unfortunate.

I still think there's a good striker in Hojlund. Maybe he wasn't ready for being the main striker at a big club with a lot of other issues but he has the physicality, the workrate and the movement to come good yet. £30m could seem turn into a bargain for somebody with today's prices.
