Iain Banks: The Wasp Factory
Dark, sinister and confusing but brilliantly funny in parts.
Give it a read.

Test match cricket balls
We have so many issues raised about the state of the ball in test matches.
Players just trying to get the ball changed every few minutes.
Criticism of what manufacturer produces the ball.
Seen Windies v Aus using a pink ball without seemingly any reason.
Any suggestions ?

Have a look at Osanuna's stadium in Spain.

Re: Cricket field stand
Just cantilever an upper tier over the cricket ground.
A whole new structure seating about 7,000 would come in around £20m.
Peanuts, in today's football finance.
Are we not trying to become a modern day, top level club ?

Hated going to any nightclubs in Burnley but followed the crowd.
Do Bojangles / Kestrel Suite count as nightclubs as they were fairly decent ?
I would much prefer to go for a curry at the Koh-I-Noor, Sharma or Al Khadin after a dozen pints.

Missed one for us and a couple more when he went back to Preston. GA certainly had a different technique to almost all other penalty takers who generally side foot the ball. He took a few deep breaths then ran gun-barrel straight at the ball, striking it with his instep at his chosen point of conne...

Re: Lancashire League weekend thread
Great Harwood seems a bit of a pain in the backside to get to by public transport for a T20 on a Friday evening. I would need to walk down from the top of Padiham to The Bridge to get the Accy bus then get some form of Hyndburn Circular bus to GH and then it could be a good walk to the ground (uphil...

I've only missed being a season ticket holder a couple of years since 1976. Saw over 40 games during the 1991 Mullen campaign which was an incredible experience. This year I have made a very difficult decision. I'm not renewing my ticket. This has something to do with my personal, financial and heal...

Rarely anyone talks to each other:any more .
Nobody seems to possess any ability to positively engage with others.
Me,me,me,me. And F**k anyone else.
Has society got dragged into this abyss ?

It's just a relentless downward spiral of modern day society. A lot of these kids have their E-bikes financed by drug dealers who employ them as delivery drivers. Go down any town centre during the evening and these little sh*ts are everywhere. They know that they are untouchable by the authorities....

I was in my element playing at Padiham (mostly in the seconds or thirds). The boundary towards the football field was extremely short. I had this bat which was about 2lbs 13oz (Slazenger V100 5*). Even a leading edge would go for six. I once hit a ball way over the trees at the Arbories End and usin...

The Police use these stinger devices which deflates the tyres of fleeing vehicles.
Why not have a pop up version for motorists who are about to run you over on a crossing ? An added bonus would be that you could give the occupants a good hiding before they can get away.
